WaiBOP's final match of the 2019 National Women's League (NWL) campaign was abandoned after a goalless first half, and extended half time, due to an extended thunder and lightening show at Cambridge's John Kerkhof Park.

The visiting Northern Lights had all but assured themselves of a place in next week's Grand Final prior to this one kicking off and the point gained from this mtch, coupled with Auckland's 2-0 defeat in Cristchurch, guaranteed their spot.

The only thing missing from a lively first half was a goal, as the Lights proved why they're finalists and WaiBOP matched them for intensity.

WaiBOP's young squad finished their 2019 campign with the region's best NWL return since 2016 and lots to build on heading into 2020.
