WaiBOP had a tough weekend in Dunedin, going down narrowly to Southern United for their third loss of the 2020 ISPS Handa Women's Premiership season.

The hosts opened the scoring on 15 minutes minutes when Amy Hislop pounced but WaiBOP got back level midway through the half. Michaela Foster's teasing cross found a Southern defender who could only touch it into her net.

Southern were unlucky not to be back in front before the break when Chelsea Whittaker's close range finish on the half hour was ruled out. They were not to be denied just over ten minutes after the break, however, when Hislop notched her second, rounding Godbold and hitting home on the angle.

WaiBOP had their moments in the final third as the second half wore on but couldn't quite manage to carve out the type of chance that would find a route back into the game.
