After many stuttering starts the works at Gordon Spratt Reserve, Papamoa, are in full swing.
The field renovations include a full field redesign allowing the creation of an additional football field (moving to four fields). These now change their direction moving from North/South to East/West, and will be powered by 250LUX lights. This allows for night games.
Seating has been provided with an altered embankment to allow a grandstand of sorts, while at the end of the fields there will be the creation of a brand new clubrooms facility, with carparking.
A secondary facility will be placed in the overflow car park, adding clubroom use at the southern end of the park, which also includes new carparking.
The existing changeroom block will be altered to allow additional change rooms with new storage being added.
The growth of Papamoa over recent years has been significant with decent further growth expected.
The club had 800 players during the 2023 season, with an expected membership of 865 in 2024. With the recent creation and centralisation of development programmes into FC Tauranga Moana, and movement of some players there, Papamoa would have had an expected membership of close to 1000 players in season 2024.
